Once was the home of a man from humble beginnings who found a great fortune, Devon House was built in 1881. George Stiebel, whose parents were a Jewish merchant and housekeeper, prospered from investments made in Venezuelan goldmines. In the second half of the nineteenth century, he purchased properties all over Jamaica. On 53 acres purchased from the Saint Andrew Parish, he constructed his dream home and filled it with fine furnishes, paintings, rugs, and other luxuries. Jamaica’s first black millionaire was one of three wealthy residents who built grand homes at the intersection of Trafalgar Road and Hope Road. This area, known as Millionaires’ Corner, is only a few miles from Hellshire Beach and the scenic Kingston Bay.

Dolphin Cove, Ocho Rios

Dolphin Cove Jamaica is one of the most popular of all Ocho Rios attractions, second only to nearby Dunn’s River Falls.

Ocho Rios is famous for its high-end Jamaican resorts and as a principal stopover on Jamaica cruises or cruises around the Caribbean. The resorts are geared to laid-back getaways, lazing on a beach or enjoying a cold drink. It is easy to enjoy an entire week within the confines of an all-inclusive resort, but there are several good Ocho Rios activities to get you out of the hotel.

A trip to Dunn’s River Falls can be organized from most of the resorts and from any cruise ships. These 600 feet falls are well worth a visit. Dolphin Cove Jamaica is adjacent to the waterfall, so it is easy to combine a trip to these Ocho Rios attractions

Lime Cay island

Lime Cay, a small island off the coast of Kingston, is home of one of most beautiful beaches in all of Jamaica—quite an accomplishment in a place known for its quality sun, surf, and sand. This island in Jamaica has been set aside for enjoyment, so you’ll find no houses or hotels crowding the beach, just wide stretches of sand fronting sparkling blue waters.

Accessible only by water, Lime Cay is popular with local boat owners. If you don’t own your own boat, you can rent a vessel for the day or the week. Some of the local fishermen are willing to give rides to Lime Cay in Jamaica in exchange for a few dollars. If you can’t catch a ride, you can still admire the sun and surf on the mainland, including Hellshire Beach and Fort Clarence, both black sand beaches.
